Real Estate Stats for April 2014

Blog by Matt Carre | May 9th, 2014

According to statistics released by the Calgary Real Estate Board, the Airdrie Real Estate market had another very strong month in April with 169 MLS® sales.

"Pricing remained at an all time high for Airdrie and for the second straight month we had the 2nd most sales ever for our city.” stated RE/MAX Rocky View Real Estate REALTOR® Matt Carre. “We are still early in the selling season and with hopefully better weather coming soon we should continue to see growth in the housing market.”

In Calgary the average overall residential sale price slipped a bit in April down to $479,000 compared to $485,000 in March. For Airdrie the average sale price remained the same at $391,000.

There are currently 208 active MLS® listings on the market in Airdrie, up from 167 in April. Last month it took an average of 26 days for a home to sell in Airdrie the same as in March. In Calgary the average days on market also dropped to 27 days compared to 28 in March.

“To me the most news worthy number is the active number of MLS® listings. This is the first time since last August (207) that we have had more than 200 listings on the market in Airdrie. This is good news for buyers since it will give them more options. However, it could also be good news for sellers as it may bring more buyers out looking since they have more options.”

The City of Airdrie has not yet posted housing starts for the month of April. We will post them next month.
