2013 Hallowe'en with The Carre's

Blog by Matt Carre | November 1st, 2013

Hallowe'en is a great holiday.  You get to dress up and take on a character for the day and the reward for playing dress up is CANDY!  No wonder this holiday is so popular!  Yesterday I dropped my Orange Crayon (who was going to be a Princess up until 2 days before Hallowe'en) off a pre-school in the morning.  She was very pleased with the great bag of candy weighing down her backpack when I picked her up.  In the afternoon I took Optimus Prime to Kindergarten and was able to hang out with him and his friends, Bat Girl, Luigi, Mr. Army Man and many others.

After celebrating a parade of costumes in the gym we went back to the classroom to enjoy some treats.  I offered to bring cupcakes.... I called them Ooey Gooey Zombie Cupcakes....  Here's how you too can create a masterpiece likes these:

1.) Make cupcakes
2.) Take room temperature icing and add food colouring.  Beat rapidly to mix colour and further liquify icing.
3.) Make an attempt to ice cupcakes nicely by using a piping bag but be sure to look past the fact that the icing is warm and goopy.
4.) Glob icing onto cupcakes and sprinkle with green sprinkles to distract from the bad icing job.
5.) Leave cupcake covered on the counter overnight to ensure icing melts sufficiently.
6.) Serve only to people who really love you or children who don't judge.

After school we carved our pumpkin and got ready to go out trick or treating.  The weather held out and the kids did great.  Consider we all went to bed with a slight sugar tummy ache I would say the day was a success.
