Airdrie Real Estate Stats for March 2014

Blog by Matt Carre | April 8th, 2014

According to statistics released by the Calgary Real Estate Board, the Airdrie Real Estate market had a tremendous month of March with 163 MLS® sales.

"The spring selling season is in full swing with March having the second most MLS® sales ever recorded for a single month in Airdrie along with the highest average sale price that we have ever seen.” stated RE/MAX Rocky View Real Estate REALTOR® Matt Carre.  “We often get asked if we are in a seller’s market and these stats substantiate our one word answer of Yes.”

In Calgary the average overall residential sale price had a small gain in March up to $485,000 compared to $483,000 in February.  For Airdrie the average sale price jumped to $391,000 compared to $384,000 last month.

There are currently 167 MLS® listings on the market in Airdrie, up from 160 in March. Last month it took an average of 26 days for a home to sell in Airdrie compared to 33 days in February.  In Calgary the average days on market also dropped to 28 days compared to 30 in February.

“While it is great that the market is strong, we have a caution for sellers.  If you are looking to sell make sure you have somewhere to move.  So if you are staying in the area get out there with your REALTOR® and look to make sure you will be happy with your next home.  Your agent will also be able to protect you so that you don’t get stuck without a place to live.”

The City of Airdrie has not yet posted housing starts for the month of March. We will post them next month.

These statistics were compiled by Matt Carre, a REALTOR® with The Carre Group of RE/MAX Rocky View Real Estate. If you have any questions call him at 403-771-3398.
