They're Just Not That Into Your House

Blog by Matt Carre | February 21st, 2013

You remember the movie He’s Just Not That Into You, it was funny and got the point across pretty clearly.  Sometimes it’s like that with your house.  Some Buyers just aren’t into it and that’s okay.  I’m not saying it isn’t frustrating but put your feet in the Buyer’s shoes (which might be really easy if you are selling your current home and then buying a new one).

Before I take Clients out to look at homes we sit down and go over the basics of what they want.  How many bedrooms, the style of the home, garage/parking etc.  Usually we will have a number of matches to go through.  At that point I start booking showings and we go to see if these homes are the right fit.  A home has to feel right.  It’s not just the specs on the paper, it’s how light comes in, how a space feels, the layout and the street.

There are times when someone thinks a house is lovely but it’s just not right for them.  The reason that’s okay is because you wouldn’t want to buy a house that wasn’t right for you.  It’s the old do unto others as you would have done onto you rule.  You can’t force someone to love your house and want to buy it.

My Sellers often ask me if I have received any feedback after a showing.  We do ask the agent who showed the property but we don’t always get feedback. The bottom line is that if they like the house we get asked on a second date (second showing) or they propose (write an offer).

If we aren’t getting the number of showings we should be getting we will let you know.  We have certain check points throughout the listing and we know how to read the market and relay the trends to you.
